Acle High School was originally opened as a secondary modern in 1959 with accommodation for just 300 pupils. In 1978 it became a comprehensive as part of the County’s reorganisation and from 1992 the school became Grant Maintained. In September 1999 with further changes in Education, the school became a Foundation School and in September 2003 the school was awarded specialist status in Science and Maths. The school caters for children aged 11-16 and there are currently 730 on roll.

Acle High School serves 26 villages within approximately 100 square miles of traditional rural communities. Only 20% of our students live locally, with the remainder travelling up to 7 miles to school on council transport.

Acle High School is a happy and successful school, constantly seeking ways to improve and new opportunities to stimulate and motivate young people. Three core values underpin everything we do. We offer the highest levels of CARE for all our students. They are encouraged to care for themselves, for each other and for the environment. We believe the everyday courtesies and good manners matter. We are ambitious of our young people and we will CHALLENGE them at every opportunity. Progress, success and achievement are rewarded and celebrated; poor behaviour dealt with quickly and fairly so that everyone can learn and make progress. Our varied ENRICHMENT programme is designed to motivate and enthuse learners as they become more enquiring, enterprising and independent.

Acle High School offers a broad and balanced education to all its pupils.  Our exam results are on a par with, or slightly above the national average and in most subject areas show a slow but steady improvement over the last 10 years.

Acle High School is committed to developing out of hours learning for all of its pupils and has an extensive timetable of clubs and classes that run before, during and after the school day. It also has an active community education programme that strengthens links between the school and local residents by organising and running learning events. We encourage partnership working in all of these events and are striving to make the school a central feature in the Acle community.
